FRIMCHETT Statement
As most of you are probably aware by now the Frimchett Festival has, in its original format, had to be cancelled.
Since having to make the decision to cancel we have been desperately trying to re-organise and produce an event that could replace Frimchett and still be staged this summer. Our main concern was to stage something that would satisfy those of you who had already purchased tickets by offering a real music concert alternative. We also needed to consider our original goal, and the whole purpose of staging the Frimchett Festival, which was to raise funds for Help for Heroes as we had the previous year with a very successful smaller concert.
We were aware that the charity had already suffered a massive blow this year with the cancellation of "The Concert for Heroes" that was to be staged in Southend on the 27th June. We were therefore adamant in our determination to rescue the situation.
There are numerous reasons behind the failure of Frimchett, including line up issues, spiralling operational costs, delays in reaching the necessary agreements with various authorities . We needed to recognise these problems and ensure any alternative event would not suffer the same fate.
On Tuesday 21st July I was contacted by my friends on the management team of the Weyfest Music Festival, who requested a
meeting to see if they could help with the situation. Since then we have held several meetings to discuss the way forward and I am now pleased to announce the agreement we have reached. I do hope that it is an offer to which you will give your support.
Weyfest Festival History
The annual Weyfest music festival started life in 1988 as part of National Music Day and has been staged at various locations in and around Farnham Surrey every year since. This family festival finally found a home at The Rural Life Centre (Tilford) in 2007 and has been staged there during the first weekend of September every year since, with it's line up and format growing stronger each year.
Weyfest 2010 Fri 3rd - Sun 5th Sept
This year the festival promises to be the biggest yet, with over 60 acts performing on outdoor and indoor stages. Acts include Sunday headliners The Stranglers and the new superstar of mainstream/folk crossover Seth Lakeman headlining the main stage on Saturday.
During the weekend there is an abundance of legendary bands sharing the stages with the stars of tomorrow. Classic rock, from Focus, Curved Air, and Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash rub shoulders with good time blues from legends Nine Below Zero and Jackie Lynton. Other household names appearing include Curved Air, The Christians, The Zombies and Adrian Edmonson & The Bad Shepherds.
With a full weekend of music and plenty to do for adults and kids alike, including a KidZone and free access to the Rural Life Museum itself, the full extent of this fantastic event is far too much to mention here.
Our Offer
Those of you that have already been kind enough to purchase a Frimchett Festival ticket will be able to use that ticket to enter Weyfest on Sat 4th Sept and Sun 5th Sept at little to no extra cost depending on the ticket type, including weekend camping tickets.
For those who have been planning to purchase a Frimchett Festival ticket, please read below to enable you to purchase a Weyfest ticket and our friends at Weyfest will donate a significant portion of that ticket value directly back to 'The Help for Heroes' charity fund.
We of course understand that the change of event may not be convenient or of interest to everyone and should this be the case, a full refund will be given.
In Summary
Significant time, money and effort has been put into the Frimchett Festival over the last eight months, with the idea of bringing exclusive entertainment to our area in support of a significant cause.
Our objective has always been to produce a festival that we could all enjoy whilst at the same time raising funds for our military personnel who need medical attention for various injuries sustained in recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, by donating to The Help for Heroes Charity.
With your continued support and the help offered from the Weyfest team, we can hopefully go at least some way towards retrieving the situation.
Please would you try and add your support to this Frimchett Salvage plan and help turn a tragedy into a triumph by attending the Weyfest Music Festival in September.
